Tip of the Week - Stitching with Beads 1

With what do you stitch your beads on? There are quite a few options - the following are the way most popular, with our suggestion listed last.

Stitch them on with the same color of floss as the bead
This is a really great idea - if all of your beads are the same color. If you have many beads of different colors - be prepared to re-thread your needle - a lot.
Invisible Thread
This can be tricky to work with, but it does hide the thread. Invisible thread is sort of like fishing line and is difficult to anchor. One thing to be aware of - if you use invisible thread - DO NOT iron your piece. The thread will melt to your fabric.
Use the same color of thread as your fabric
This is our favorite. Your goal is to hide the thread. So - especially if you are going over large un-stitched areas - this is really the best option.
Next week. . . . how do you stitch them on?

New on Saturday!

Happy Monday all!

One of the best things about working at Cross My Heart is getting to be there when the mail carrier comes with packages of new stuff! This weekend we got a new pattern from Lavender and Lace and a couple of great patterns from Funk and Webber that aren’t new - but they sure are cute.

Fallen RosesMarilyn Leavitt Imblum of Lavender and Lace describes Fallen Roses this way.

A memorial sampler for that special person or event or romance you want to remember forever. A wedding gift - a soldier - the birth of a child - or birthday. It is a dark blue sampler pattern with a woman holding a rose. The hearts can be made into purple hearts. This sampler records your special time, as the roses fall.

Fallen Roses is approximately 14″ x 16″ if done over 2 on 28 ct (14ct Aida). We think it would be great substituting a hand dyed silk for the blue.

Looner NightOne of the fabulous patterns this year from Funk and Webber Designs is Looner Night.

Fifth in the Let There Be Night series, this white-on-black design takes us to a peaceful cabin on a lake where loons call and geese fly in the moonlight.

This is a great pattern to add to your collection! And - oh look! the cabin looks like the cabins we’ll be staying in at Camp Gottastitch! We’re counting down the days and starting to collect patterns and gifts just for you. There are only a few more spaces left so reserve your space today!

Prairie Schooler Santa 2008

PSS 2008Hi all!

Yes - he’s here now. The Prairie Schooler Santa for 2008 is in and available, along with fabric, and frames made by our own Kathy Daughters. He’s really cute with his bundle of packages, his green Comet sled and pine tree. A must have for all Santa collectors.

We’re really getting excited about the upcoming Camp Gottastitch. We’ll have an exclusive graph from MDesigns and will be premiering a kit from a globally known designer - available ONLY through Cross My Heart. Keep an eye here for more details!

See you there!
